30 Things To Do While Social Distancing

Here’s a list of 30 things you can do while stuck at home:

1. Learn a new language.

Sign language, Spanish, French, whatever you’re trying to learn, YouTube could help.

2. Workout.

3. Create a collage

Use old magazines and book covers to create something new.

4. Knit a hat (or something else).

Find patterns on Ravelry and tutorials on YouTube.

5. Cook a new recipe.

Present it to your family as if you are on a chef show.

6. Dance. (Social DisDANCING)

Turn on 105.9FM and dance!

7. Play an online game with friends.

8. Learn all of the TikTok dances.

This might be an app mostly populated by people under 20, but those dances look fun!

9. Become a photographer.

Do a photoshoot. Take new headshots. Take pictures of things around your home.

10. Puppet show.

To take up extra time, make your own puppets.

11. Meditate.

12. Read all those books you’ve been planning to read.

13. Write a poem/book/short story.

14. FaceTime your son, grandma, or any family member.

Check in on them. Let them know how you are.

15. Write a letter to a loved one or your favorite Station!

Remember when this was the norm? Let’s bring it back!

16. Organize your closet Marie Kondo style.

Does this spark joy for you?

17. Support local business by ordering take-out.

Check out the list here.

18. Play hide and seek.

Generally works best if you have others at home with you.

19. Learn calligraphy.

Thin upstroke. Thick down-stroke. Here’s a tutorial.

20. Learn how to do a new makeup look.

Cut-crease, baking, contouring … there’s a lot. Now is the time to learn because you’re alone. YouTube tutorials, anyone?

21. Take care of your skin.

Do a face mask. Get better face care habits now.

22. Color.

This isn’t just an activity for kids. Get an adult coloring book, or draw a picture in black marker and color it with colored pencils.

23. Re-arrange your furniture.

Make it feel like a brand new home.

24. Donate to a charity.

Just pick one that you love.

25. Set up an indoor beach.

No, you don’t have to bring sand inside. Use a blanket as the sand.

26. Test out that green thumb.

Plant seeds. Garden.

27. Paint your nails.

Don’t forget to take care of yourself!

28. Cut your own hair.

Please watch tutorials before you do this. Also … start small.

29. Take a nap.

You deserve it.

30. Go outside … safely, of course.

Fresh air can help!

105.9-The Legend is excited to announce that we’ve received overwhelming support from our listeners and advertisers!

Yesterday, we announced that the Wrestling Team from Reedsport needed our help! We found out that eight of the Reedsport Wrestlers were set to compete in the National Finals in Fargo next month! Huge! But, there was a problem, they were still about $6,000 short of the funds needed to cover the costs!

First of all, Herbal Choices started off by donating a generous $1,000! Then, we received a couple of $100 contributions from Driffs on the Bay and Bay Area Mailing!

First thing this morning, we received a call from a Business in town for a $5000 anonymous donation!
That whittled it down to just $650! Then Herbal Choices called us back and donated the last $650!

These Wrestlers are going to NATIONALS!
Thanks to YOU – we’ve reached our $7000 goal in just a day and a half! Thanks for hearing our plea!

105.9-The Legend thanks you so much for your support!

Call us at (541)-808-9399 to make a pledge. We need YOUR help!

The High School Wrestling Team from Reedsport High School has qualified EIGHT of their wrestlers to compete in the National Finals in Fargo next month! We’re asking businesses and individuals to help with a donation of ANY AMOUNT toward that $6,000 remaining goal.

Thanks to Herbal Choices for their $1,000 donation!!! Along with Griffs by the Bay in Winchester Bay for their $100 contribution and to Bay Area Mailing for their $100 contribution. It’s this kind of support that encourages young people to excel and these kids are doing just that!

THE LEGEND BREAKS FROM THE PACK!

On behalf of Roger W. Morgan, Bob Malik, Shotgun Tom Kelly, and Desiree…THANK YOU!  We recognize that you have LOTS of choices when it comes to Bay Area radio stations.  And the recently completed audience survey completed by BASEAudience surveys, indicates that 34.7% of the total Bay Area radio audience is tuned to 105.9-THE LEGEND.  The best way we can thank you adequately is to continue to limit our commercials to no more than 3 minutes per break, and to continue to play only the biggest legendary hits of all time.  bannerimage_1432617695

It’s something we have suspected for a LONG time but now, it’s OFFICIAL!  A recent listener survey on the Southern Oregon Coast for Coos Bay/North Bend confirms that 105.9-THE LEGEND leads the radio pack with a whopping 34.7% of the overall listening audience.  (BASEAUDIENCE.com Jan./Feb. 2019).   Thanks to our audience of adult listeners who dominate radio listening on the Southern Oregon Coast.

THIS “MORGAN”, THE GUESS WHO CLAPPED FOR THE WOLFMAN!

It reminded me of one of my best radio pals of all time, WOLFMAN JACK!  Just days before his untimely death in July of 1995, WOLFMAN JACK and I MC’d a concert with the Four Tops, The Temptations, Bobby Vee and the Shirelles in Omaha, Nebraska.  We shared good memories and stories that only old radio guys can share and enjoy.  When I heard The Guess Who remember Wolfman with hit, “Clap For The Wolfman” this “Morgan”, I took a little time to reflect on one of the nicest people I’ve ever known.  Roger W. JOHN LENNON #9 DREAM MYSTERY SOLVED!

This “Morgan”, a fan called THE LEGEND asking whose voice is heard whispering, “John” on John Lennon’s “#9 Dream”.  We went to Roger W. Morgan who spent some serious time with John and the Beatles in 1969, and learned that the sultry voice is that of May Fung Yee Pang,  best known as a one-time girlfriend of John Lennon. She had previously worked for Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono as a personal assistant and production coordinator. Mystery solved!  Next mystery?  Who will be first to make a dedication on Desiree’s new show, THE LEGENDARY LOVE LINE WITH DESIREE, weeknights between 7 and midnight on 105.9-THE LEGEND?Lennon Pang

Bobby Rydell is an American entertainment legend!

Screen Shot 2019-02-25 at 11.47.20 AMScreen Shot 2019-02-25 at 11.50.37 AM

Part of the Philadelphia music scene which also spawned Frankie Avalon and Fabian, Rydell was undoubtedly the most talented of the teen idols. After a number of song hits, including “Wild One” and “Volare”, he starred in Bye Bye Birdie (1963)

“Rydell High School” in the movie musical, Grease (1978), is named in his honor. Honored by the City of Philadelphia when the 2400 block of South 11th St. was named Bobby Rydell Boulevard. The event was celebrated with a parade, a string band and Bobby arriving in a 1950 pink Cadillac. The mayor attended along with thousands of people. A huge block party followed dedication ceremonies.

Bobby Rydell is a true American music treasure.

Don’t miss this exciting interview!
